Picking the right Lenses
The most important part of you glasses are the lenses. Depending on your needs, the proper type of lens has a big influence on the comfort and vision of your eyes. Some individuals need a single-vision lens that corrects their vision at all distances, others may need bifocals or progressive lenses to accommodate for distance and near vision separately.
Your optometrist will help determine the proper lenses for your eyes. Your optician will help measure your eyes and facial features, so that your lenses match you and your frames. The optician will also walk you through the various protective coatings and other additions to your lenses for optimal functionality.

Find relief with Neurolens
Correcting more than vision
A specialized lens that corrects more than just your vision, neurolens uses contoured prism to correct eye misalignment.
Eye misalignment contributes to neck and back pain, dizziness, light sensitivity, and more. This is called Trigeminal Dysphoria, and it is caused when the brain works overtime to correctly interpret images from each eye. When the brain is doing this it is constantly triggering the trigeminal nerve, which in turn causes the symptoms mentioned above. At Valley Eye Clinic we offer testing and treatment for eye misalignment in the form of neurolens.
While many people suffer from trigeminal dysphoria, many don’t see these symptoms as being linked to their eyes.
Neurolens testing
Getting tested for neurolens could not be easier. The test takes five minutes and is completely painless. All you need to do is watch the screen and listen to your technician’s instructions. From there your test results are passed off to the optometrist, who will guide you through the test’s findings.

Contacts
Convenience with Contacts
Live a convenient and active lifestyle
Contacts are soft, gel-like lenses that rest directly on the surface of your eye. Whether you are playing sports, working in an office, or taking a hike in the woods, contacts can provide a level of comfort and convenience that glasses cannot.
Much like the lenses of your glasses, contacts can provide a range of vision function and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Some people are unable to tolerate contacts and others may have eye conditions that don’t allow their use. Talk to your optometrist and discuss if contacts are a good fit for your eyes.
Contact Lens Evaluation
Just like you need a prescription for your glasses, you also need one for your contacts. However, unlike your glasses, contacts rest directly on the surface of your eyes, which requires different measurements and safety protocols.
Contact lenses are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and they require that your contact lens prescription be renewed annually by an eye doctor, every 365 days. This is a shorter time-frame than your glasses prescription, and it is something to keep in mind when coming in for your annual eye exam.

Specialty Contacts
Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)
Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) is a non-surgical procedure that eliminates the need for glasses or contact lenses during the day. Ortho-K gently reshapes your cornea while you sleep, using custom designed contact lenses. Ortho-K is a safe and effective alternative to daytime glasses or contacts. Please call us to discuss whether Orthokeratology is an option for you.
Scleral Contact Lenses
Scleral contact lenses are custom designed large diameter rigid gas permeable contact lenses that vault over the cornea. Scleral contact lenses are a wonderful option for patients with keratoconus or irregular corneas from trauma or prior refractive surgery. They can also provide symptomatic relief for dry eyes. We have been fitting scleral contact lenses at Valley Eye Clinic for years and work with multiple lens designs. Please call us to discuss whether scleral contact lenses are an option for you.
